Rebell^® Bianco: White Chromotropic Traps for Professional Pest Monitoring

The Rebell® Bianco system is a reusable and highly effective solution for the monitoring and control of specific pests in fruit trees and small fruits, with emphasis on the sawflies and the raspberry beetles. Each package contains 8 cross traps (20 x 15 cm), already with glue and ready to install.

Selective Attraction with Chromatic Technology

White surfaces that do not reflect UV simulate “super flowers”, intensely attracting:

• European apple sawfly (Hoplocampa testudinea);
• Pear sawfly (Hoplocampa brevis);
• Plum sawflies (Hoplocampa minuta and H. flava);
• Raspberry beetles (Byturus tomentosus, B. rubi and B. unicolor).

Facilitated Identification

• Sawflies: Compact body, membranous wings, without “wasp-waist”;
• Raspberry beetles: Oval, 4-5 mm, covered by fine light-brown hairs, which darken over time.

Monitoring of Sawflies

• Installation: One week before bud break until flowering;
• Location: External part of the canopy, south side, face height (~1.7 m);
• Density: 2-3 traps per variety; 2-4 traps in case of multiple varieties or susceptible varieties;
• Monitoring: At least once a week;
• Capture limits: Susceptible varieties (e.g.: Idared): 20-30 individuals per trap; Resistant varieties (e.g.: Golden Delicious): 40-50 individuals per trap; Plum sawflies (sum of the species): 80-100 individuals per trap.

Monitoring and Control of Raspberry Beetles

Monitoring:

• Season: From the start of flowering until the harvest;
• Height: Initial phase: 0.5-1 m; Full vegetative development: 1-1.5 m;
• Density: minimum 2 traps per variety;
• Accumulated captures until flowering: < 5 beetles per trap → low infestation (damage < 1%); 5-20 beetles per trap → medium infestation (damage 1-5%); > 20 beetles per trap → high infestation (damage > 5%).

Control:

• Structure: Only one plate, mounted with wire;
• Season: From the start of flowering until the harvest;
• Position: Initial phase: 0.5-1 m; Subsequently: 1-1.5 m; Avoid them being covered by young shoots;
• Density: 1 trap every 3-5 metres;
• Replacement: Whenever >15% of the area is covered by insects.

Sustainable Reuse

• Removal before the harvest;
• Cleaning with spatula and neutral biosolvent (not aggressive for plastic);
• Renewal glue commercially available: Tangle-Trap (156 g).
