Rebell^® Orange - Reusable Orange Chromotropic Traps for the Control of the Carrot Fly

Effectively monitor the carrot fly (Psila rosae) in apiaceae with the Rebell^® Orange system - an ecological, practical and reusable solution for demanding farmers.

Method of Use

To ensure reliable results in monitoring the carrot fly:

• Install the traps vertically, above the foliage, using wooden stakes (80 cm) with clamps or metal profiles with a clip;
• Place at least 2 traps at the ends of the plot or next to natural barriers (trees, hedges, maize and potato);
• Replace the trap or the glue weekly to maintain effectiveness;
• In Mediterranean climates, the flight of the overwintering generation may begin in March; follow the local calendar to adjust the monitoring;
• If the glue becomes whitish due to autumn mist, replace the trap or the glue.

Pest Identification

Psila rosae can be recognised by:

• Body of about 5 mm;
• Yellowish head and red eyes;
• Dark thorax and abdomen, yellow legs and transparent wings.

Note: In case of doubt, wrap the trap in parafilm and send it to a specialist for confirmation.

Capture Threshold Value

• 1 fly per trap per week is the threshold below which no damage is expected;
• Avoid treatments in the 4 weeks prior to harvest, as the damage is minimal in that period;
• If treatment is necessary, use only authorised plant protection products, suitable for the crop and the production method.

Cleaning and Reuse

• Remove the traps before harvest;
• Clean with a spatula and neutral biosolvent (not aggressive to plastic);
• Reapply glue with the product Tangle-Trap (156 g), commercially available.
