Biofertilizers constitute an advanced category of biologically based products intended to improve plant nutrition, soil functionality and the overall efficiency of production systems. These formulations integrate beneficial microorganisms, bioactive organic compounds or natural substances that act directly in the rhizosphere, promoting processes essential to plant growth.
Their mode of action centres on the optimisation of soil dynamics and microbial activity, enhancing phenomena such as phosphorus solubilisation, nutrient mobilisation, mineralisation of organic matter and increased availability of macro and micronutrients. Many biofertilizers also stimulate the production of natural phytoregulators, such as auxins, cytokinins and gibberellins, which favour root development, the exploration of the soil volume and the capacity to absorb water and nutrients.
Unlike mineral fertilizers, which supply nutrients directly, biofertilizers act mainly by improving the efficiency of nutrient use and strengthening the resilience of plants in the face of abiotic stress conditions, such as water deficit, salinity or thermal variations. This approach contributes to more balanced agricultural systems, reducing losses through leaching and promoting functional and lasting fertility.
Their application is particularly relevant in organic farming, integrated production and sustainable systems, but it also fits into conventional models that seek to reduce dependence on intensive chemical fertilization. The continued use of these products favours the regeneration of the soil microbiota, the increase of active organic matter and the improvement of the physical structure, factors that are decisive for productivity in the medium and long term.
At BIOSANI, the available biofertilizers are formulated with a high concentration of bioactive substances and/or selected microorganisms, ensuring consistency, safety and agronomic performance. These solutions were developed to meet the requirements of intensive and specialised crops, offering robust, effective technical alternatives that are compatible with European agricultural production standards.
