Yellow Funnel Trap - Precise Monitoring with Chromatic Attractiveness

The Funnel Trap in yellow with a transparent cup was especially developed for the selective monitoring of medium to large lepidoptera, such as moths, in agricultural and forest environments. Its structure and colour were designed to maximise visual attractiveness, working in synergy with the use of specific semiochemicals (sex pheromones or others) (purchased separately), being ideal for use in:

• Forests;
• Vegetable crops (outdoors or protected);
• Cereals;
• Ornamentals;
• Pastures.

Characteristics

• Transparent funnel-shaped cup with built-in fittings for attachment to the funnel;
• Opaque yellow funnel with fittings for connection to the cup and the lid;
• Opaque green lid with attachment points for the cage and for the suspension cord;
• Cage with lid with a fitting for installation of the sex pheromone dispenser or others (purchased separately);
• Suspension cord for secure mounting of the trap at the monitoring site.

Applications

• Monitoring of pests such as Zeuzera pyrina, Spodoptera spp. and others;
• Early detection or precision monitoring in Integrated Production or Organic Agriculture programmes;
• Areas with high biodiversity where selectivity in capture is required.

Dose: 2 to 10 traps w/ dispenser/ha (depending on the objective, plot, crop density, season and intensity of the attack).

Attention: Adding 100 to 200 ml of water (2 to 3 cm in height) with a few drops of neutral soap or unused vegetable oil in the bottom of the cup helps to retain the captured insects inside the trap. Frequent monitoring and cleaning of the trap is recommended. The yellow colour can attract beneficial insects, namely bees, which may inadvertently be captured in the trap. A prior assessment of each situation / target pest is recommended, along with the selection of other trap colours whenever possible for the monitoring of the target pest. Alternatively, other options should be considered for the monitoring of the target pest in situations where the use of the yellow colour results in a high capture of beneficial insects in the trap.
