Green Funnel Trap - Effective Monitoring with Minimal Ecological Impact

The Funnel Trap in green with a transparent cup was developed for the selective monitoring of medium to large lepidoptera and coleoptera that act at ground level, in forest crops, vegetable crops (especially leafy ones) and meadows. Its versatile structure also allows use in sensitive areas, where the aim is to avoid the accidental capture of beneficial insects, such as bees, being ideal for the monitoring of the pine processionary moth.

Advantages

• Design not attractive to pollinators: The green colour of the funnel and the lid reduces the attraction of beneficial insects, unlike conventional yellow traps;
• Flexible installation: It can be suspended at canopy level or slightly above the crop, or partially buried up to cup level for captures at ground level.
• Facilitated visual monitoring: The transparent cup allows the captures to be checked without the need to open or handle the trap.

Characteristics

• Transparent funnel-shaped cup with fittings for attachment to the funnel;
• Opaque green funnel with a fitting system to the cup and the lid;
• Opaque green lid with attachment points for the cage and suspension cord;
• Cage with lid for installation of the pheromone dispenser or specific attractant (purchased separately);
• Suspension cord for secure mounting on trees, greenhouses or supports.

Applications

• Monitoring of agricultural pests such as Thaumetopea pityocampa, Duponchelia fovealis, Zeuzera pyrina and coleoptera such as Cylas puncticollis;
• Forests, vegetable crops outdoors or in greenhouses, and meadows;
• Areas with high biodiversity where selectivity in capture is required.

Dose: 2 to 10 traps w/ dispenser/ha (depending on the objective, plot, crop density, season and intensity of the attack).

Attention: Adding 100 to 200 ml of water (2 to 3 cm height) with a few drops of neutral soap or unused vegetable oil in the bottom of the cup helps to retain the captured insects inside the trap. Frequent monitoring and cleaning of the trap is recommended.
