Green Funnel Trap BC - Optimized Capture for Pests with Erratic Flight

The Green Funnel Trap with Cross Barrier (BC) was developed for the monitoring of large lepidopterans and medium to large coleopterans with erratic flight, in forestry, vegetable (outdoor or protected), cereal, ornamental and pasture settings.

This configuration combines the chromatic attractiveness of the yellow cross barrier with the efficacy of specific semiochemicals, such as sex pheromones or others (purchased separately). The cross barrier acts as a visual and physical impact element, widening the reception area for insect flight and channeling them into the interior of the trap. This structure is especially effective in capturing species with disordered flight, which normally escape traps with conventional entrances of smaller size.

Installation should be done at the level of the tree canopy or slightly above the crop, according to the type of cultivation. The transparent cup allows a quick visual inspection of the captures, without the need to open or handle the trap, facilitating continuous monitoring.

Dose: 2 to 10 traps w/ dispenser/ha (depending on the objective, plot, crop density, season and intensity of the attack).

Attention: Adding 100 to 200 ml of water (2 to 3 cm high) with a few drops of neutral soap or unused vegetable oil to the bottom of the cup helps to retain the captured insects inside the trap. Frequent monitoring and cleaning of the trap is recommended, especially when the target pests are coleopterans with erratic flight (example: common chafer or white-grub beetle and forest chafer), given the rapid exhaustion of the storage capacity of the trap cup during the peak of the pest flight. The yellow color can attract beneficials, namely bees, which may inadvertently be captured in the trap. A prior assessment of each situation / target pest is recommended, as well as the selection of other trap colors whenever this is possible for monitoring the target pest. Alternatively, other options should be considered for the monitoring of the target pest in situations where the use of the yellow color results in high capture of beneficials in the trap.
