Large Multifunnel Trap - Advanced Monitoring of Xylophagous Beetles in Forestry and Fruit Trees

Trap with 12 segments (funnels) in black polypropylene (PP), designed for the monitoring and capture of adult beetles that affect forestry and fruit tree species. This model is equipped with a wet collector cup, ideal for areas with a high pest population density.

Target Pests

Indicated for the monitoring and capture of:

• Scolytus amygdali - Almond bark beetle;
• Scolytus multistriatus - Elm bark beetle;
• Monochamus galloprovincialis - Pine sawyer beetle (vector of the pine nematode);
• Platypus cylindrus - Platypus or Oak pinhole borer (vector of fungi);
• Other xylophagous beetles of agro-forestry relevance.

These species belong to families such as Scolytidae, Cerambycidae, Platypodinae and Bostrichidae, known to cause:

• Galleries in the xylem and phloem, compromising the structure of trunks and limbs;
• Transmission of diseases, which cause the rotting of wood and the early death of the trees;
• Commercial depreciation of the wood, making it unsuitable for premium use.

Mode of Operation

• Uses pheromone dispensers and/or specific attractants (sold separately);
• The insects are attracted by the odor, collide with the funnels and are led to the collector cup;
• The wet cup, without metal mesh, which allows the retention of the insects in liquid, in areas with a high pest population density.

Recommended Installation

• Height: 2-2,5 m (cup at 1-1,5 m from the ground);
• Location: open areas or advancing front of the pest;
• Density: 11 to 25 traps per hectare (1 for every 400-900 m²);
• Distance between traps: 20 to 30 m.

Maintenance

• Periodic cleaning of the collector cup: weekly or fortnightly (daily in case of high captures);
• The use of anti-odor salts is recommended to prolong the efficacy of the wet cup;
• After the campaign, store disassembled and protected from dust, frost and precipitation;
• Estimated durability: 4 to 5 years under normal conditions of use.

Dose: 1 to 25 traps/ha (depending on the objective, crop density, season or intensity of attack).

Attention: It is recommended that you consult the available bibliography on the various methodologies available for the monitoring of agricultural / forestry pests, and that you evaluate and become knowledgeable about the biology of the target species you intend to monitor. Frequent monitoring and cleaning of the trap is recommended.
