Small Multifunnel Trap - Advanced Monitoring of Xylophagous Beetles in Forestry and Fruit Trees

Trap with 6 segments (funnels) in black polypropylene (PP), equipped with a dry collector cup, ideal for the monitoring and capture of adult beetles that cause significant damage in forestry and fruit tree species.

Target Pests

Designed to monitor and capture:

• Scolytus amygdali - Almond bark beetle;
• Scolytus multistriatus - Elm bark beetle;
• Monochamus galloprovincialis - Pine sawyer beetle (vector of the pine nematode);
• Platypus cylindrus - Platypus or Oak pinhole borer (vector of fungi);
• Other xylophagous beetles of agro-forestry relevance.

These species belong to families such as Scolytidae, Cerambycidae, Platypodinae and Bostrichidae, known to cause:

• Galleries in the xylem and phloem, compromising the structure of trunks and limbs;
• Transmission of diseases, which cause the rotting of wood and the early death of the trees;
• Commercial depreciation of the wood, making it unsuitable for premium use.

Attraction Mechanism

• Requires the use of pheromone dispensers and/or specific attractants (sold separately);
• The insects, attracted by the odor, collide with the funnels and are led to the collector cup;
• The dry cup prevents escape and promotes the neutralization of the insects by exhaustion.

Installation and Recommended Density

• Install at 2-2,5 m height, with the cup ~1–1,5 m from the ground;
• Preferably in open areas or at the advancing front of the pest;
• Density: 11 to 25 traps per hectare (1 for every 400-900 m²);
• Distance between traps: 20 to 30 m.

Monitoring Calendar

• Adult activity: From spring until the beginning of winter;
• Monitoring recommended when the average daily temperature is between 15-25 ºC;
• Replacement of the dispensers according to the supplier's indication (normally every 45-50 days).

Maintenance and Reuse

• Periodic cleaning of the collector cup: weekly or fortnightly;
• After the campaign, store disassembled and protected from dust, frost and precipitation;
• Estimated durability: 4 to 5 years under normal conditions of use.

Dose: 1 to 25 traps/ha (depending on the objective, crop density, season or intensity of attack).

Attention: It is recommended that you consult the available bibliography on the various methodologies available for the monitoring of agricultural / forestry pests, and that you evaluate and become knowledgeable about the biology of the target species you intend to monitor. Frequent monitoring and cleaning of the trap is recommended.
