BioProtex^® spray - Precision in Controlling the Olive Fruit Fly with Intelligent Attractiveness

BioProtex^® spray is a highly effective food attractant, formulated with protein hydrolysate and urea, which acts on females and males of the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae). It must be used together with an approved insecticide, thus allowing a localized and strategic application, reducing the treated area and increasing efficiency in controlling the pest.

Optimized Application on the Olive Tree Crop

• Approved for localized application on the aerial part of the olive tree;
• The localized application (in spots or lines) must be carried out in a zone of the canopy exposed to the morning sun, where the activity of the pest is most intense;
• Alternating application is recommended: Treat only the trees of one row, leaving the following ones (1 to 3 rows) untreated, according to the conditions of the holding.

Efficiency Validated by Monitoring

• Carry out efficacy tests adapted to the reality of the holding;
• Validate the results with reliable programs of damage sampling on the fruits;
• The localized application intensifies the attractive effect, concentrating the contact of the pest with the insecticide.

Method of Use

• Mix into the spray solution already prepared with the approved insecticide;
• The dosage, number of applications, interval between treatments and re-entry time depend on the insecticide used;
• Avoid mixtures with products that alter the pH of the spray solution, such as those containing copper.

The method of localized application of the attractant together with the insecticide represents a sustainable and selective approach, aligned with the most modern integrated protection practices.

Note: The decision to spray must be justified by data resulting from monitoring and by the observation of stings on fruits through representative sampling of the damage, allowing the determination of the risk and the economic level of attack. In addition to the data collected on the holding, the recommendations contained in the circulars periodically issued by the Agricultural Warning Stations should be followed.

Dose: 0.2 to 0.6 L/ha.
